Castle Generator - Houdini 12.1 to Houdini 19.5

Overview

With the Procedural Castle Tower tool, users will be able to quickly create medieval style tower models and easily iterate on them.
Parameters are linked together in smart ways to offer a more user-friendly experience while still allowing for a lot of control. A lot of areas can be shaped by splines graphs, allowing for a very customizable look.

Technical

Generation:
Procedurally generated UVs supported
Optional UV packing parameters available in “Material” tab

Optimizations:
Parameters to control polygon density for all sections
Optional Edge Bevel settings for low or mid-poly look

Presets:
Set of five presets available in Houdini under the gear menu

Materials:
Assigning materials in Unreal Engine (Houdini engine versions below 19.x):
Right click on material -> copy reference -> paste into field under “Unreal Materials” -> press “Enter”
Don’t forget to tick “Pack UVs” if UVs look skewed.

Requirements:

Houdini 17.5 – Houdini 19.5 Apprentice (free) or Indi License
And / Or
Houdini Engine for Unreal Engine, Unity, Maya and 3ds Max (Houdini Engine is free for Unity and Unreal when using the indi and commercial version of the tool)

Compatibility:

HDA tested for use in Houdini 18.5.759 and 19.5.303 Apprentice/Indi and Unreal Engine v 4.26

Disclaimer:
When using Houdini Engine for Unreal, using versions below 19.x is recommended. Currently higher versions have issues with the model and displaying parameters correctly.

Installation

Asset installation in Houdini:
In Houdini: File -> Import -> Houdini Digital Asset... -> navigate to .HDA file -> click "install and create"

Asset installation for Unreal Engine (Houdini Engine):
Install Houdini Engine (installation guide, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYmVoJ3waLc)
Drag and drop the .hda file into the Unreal content browser.
* Drag asset from content browser into viewport
